It’s almost Halloween in Walnut Creek, Texas, and Fern Fischer is thrilled that the summer heat is finally on its way out. A whole new season is arriving, and along with it, crisp mornings, comfy sweaters, fall colors, and plenty of fun events.

Edmund has been hinting that he might be proposing soon, and Fern is over the moon with anticipation.

St. Hildegard’s, where Fern and Edmund, along with Fern’s best friend Elliot live, is hosting a dinner-and-a-mystery night to kick off the spooky season.

When a storm rolls in just in time for the event, the evening becomes all the more thrilling.

But when an actual body makes an appearance at the party, it becomes apparent that someone in the building is a real killer.

Neighbor is looking at neighbor with suspicion, and Fern, Elliot, and their friends will have to solve the mystery before someone gets away with murder.
